Vikings Baseball shows Power Surge at home today vs rival Victor Valley Community College
The Barstow Community College baseball team was lifted by three - 2 run home runs today in a big Conference win vs rival Victor Valley College. Carter Blouin started the power surge in the bottom of the second inning with a 2 out - 2 run home run to deep left field. Catcher Dustin Mcnichol followed Carter's lead the very next inning with a 2 run home run to the virtual same spot outside of the left field ball park. In a show of support for his teammates, sophomore 1st baseman Easton Withers hit a 2 run blast in the 8th inning joining the previously hit balls - the only thing in question now has to do with which ball traveled the furtherst. Osvaldo Escobar picked up the win on the mound with 6 excellent innings pitched scattering 8 hits and allowing just 2 earned runs. "Ozzie" received a little help from his bullpen friends when four Vikings finished off the day in relief. Dustin Mcnicholl finished 3-4 on the day with 2 runs scored - 2 RBI's and a home run. 3rd Basemen Tyler Burton went 3-6 with a run scored. The Vikings have now won two games vs Victor Valley College with two remaining on the season. Game 3 will take place Thursday March 17th at Victor Valley - game time is 2:30 PM and the series will complete at home Saturday March 19 - game time is 12:00 PM. The Vikings finished the game with a 13-8 victory and move to 4-3 in Conference Play.
