9 Vikings Earn WSC East All-Conference Honors Wilbur and Caswell Receive Gold Glove Award
The Vikings Baseball team had nine players earn Western State East All-Conference Honors. This was not only a monumental year for the Vikings as a team when it came to team accomplishments and recent records being broken, but individually some of the best on-the-field performances in recent Barstow history.

1st Team Recap
Judah Wilbur (SO) - This is Judah's second consecutive unanimous 1st Team All Western State East selection. This year in conference play, Judah boasted a .448 batting average (4th highest in conference play), while collecting 43 hits (most in conference play), scored 23 runs (T-2nd), hit 9 doubles (T-1st), 3 triples (T-3rd), and had 36 Runs Batted In (1st). Wilbur also posted a .505 on base percentage (4th) and a .635 slugging percentage (6th).
On top of Wilbur's offensive prowess, he had a .959 fielding percentage, highest among shortstops in Western State Conference play with a 120 total chances, 44 put outs, 71 assists, and only 5 errors. This defensive effort awarded Wilbur with the Conference Gold Glove award at Shortstop.
Judah was selected to the All-So Cal Team as a freshman and will be nominated for the All-State Team again in Fresno at the end of May. He will go into the meeting with an overall .416 batting average (3rd Amongst So Cal Players), 72 hits (1st), 47 runs scored (1st), 16 doubles (T-2nd), 9 home runs (T-2nd), 53 RBI (1st), an on base percentage of .485 (6th), and .711 slugging percentage (1st).
Judah will be attending Chicago State University in the fall, where he has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his student-athlete career and will be graduating this May from Barstow Community College with an Associate's Degree.
Nick Caswell (FR) - Nick was a unanimous All-Western States Conference 1st Team infielder. Through conference play Nick had a .395 batting average (8th overall in conference), with 34 hits (T-7th), 19 runs scored (T-12th), 11RBI, 8 stolen bases (T-4th), and an on base percentage of .453 (T-13th),
Caswell also had a .969 fielding percentage through conference play with, 96 total chances, 41 put outs, 52 assists, and only 3 errors, while turning 12 double plays. Nick was awarded the Western States Conference Award for Gold Glove at second base.
He will be nominated for the All-State Team with his unanimous All Western States East All-Conference selection. He carries overall stats of .372 batting average (23rd amongst So Cal Players), 35 runs (T-27th), 55 hits (T-15th), and 11 stolen bases (T-26). Defensively Nick fielded .971 overall, with 171 chances, 82 put outs, 84 assist, while only committing 5 errors.
Jathan Sibal (SO) - Jathan received his first Western States Conference honors this year for his outstanding play in the outfield. Through conference Sibal hit .386 (10th), scored 23 runs (T-2nd), collected 34 hits (T-7th), 16 RBI, and on base percentage of .467. Sibal also finished with a 1.000 fielding percentage.
Overall on the season Sibal batted .366, with 33 runs scored, 52 hits, 3 doubles, 3 triples, 23 RBI, with an OBP of .446.
Jathan will graduate in May from Barstow Community College with his Associate's Degree.
2nd Team Recap
Jason Katz (SO) - The sophomore southpaw was the Vikings ace this year and earned his second straight 2nd Team All-Western States Honors. Katz had the most innings pitched by any other pitcher in conference with 49.2. Katz made 10 appearances while starting 7 games. He collected 2 wins, 1 save, and 1 complete game with a 5.07 conference ERA, while only giving up 28 earned runs.
Overall, Katz pitched a total of 85.2 innings (T-2 amongst all So Cal pitchers), with a 5.57 ERA, 4 wins, 1 save, 2 complete games, and striking out 34 hitters.
Jason will graduate in May from Barstow Community College with his Associate's degree and has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his student-athlete career at Upper Iowa University.
Josh Torrance (SO) - Josh had an outstanding year in the outfield for the Vikings. Through conference play, Torrance carried .389 AVG (9th in conference), with 20 runs (T-9th), 35 hits (T-5th), 6 doubles (T-8th), 2 Home Runs (T-9th), while driving in 17 RBI. Josh also boasted a .452 OBP, and .522 Slugging.
Overall, Josh hit .348, with 33 runs scored, 48 hits, 8 doubles, 1 triple, and 4 home runs. Torrance drove in 31 RBI while having a .432 OBP, and slugging .507.
Josh will graduate in May from Barstow Community College with his Associate's Degree.
Evan Kerlin (FR) - The freshman first baseman received his first All-Conference Honors by hitting for a .353 AVG (2nd highest among 1B), and collecting 14 runs, 30 hits, 4 doubles, 1 home run, and 18 RBI. Evan carried a .423 OBP and .435 slugging percentage.
On the season, Kerlin carried a .348 AVG, with 26 runs, 54 hits, 9 doubles, 1 home run, and 34 RBI, with an on base percentage of .421 and a .426 slugging percentage. Evan also fielded .983 out of 290 chances, recording 274 put outs, 11 assists and only 5 errors.
Honorable Mention Team Recap
Adrian Trujillo (SO) - The sophomore catcher had an incredible year not only offensively, but defensively. Adrian earned his second All Western State Conference honors carrying a .276 AVG, while scoring 13 runs, and collecting 21 hits and 15 RBI, and a .364 OBP. Behind the plate, Trujillo fielded .989 in 87 chances, recorded 74 put outs, with 12 assists and threw out 10 runners, with only 1 passed ball.
Overall, Trujillo continued to shine, hitting .294, with 28 runs, 40 hits, 28 RBI, a .419 OBP, and drew 27 walks. Adrian fielded .984, out of 184 chances, 155 put outs, 26 assists, 18 runners caught stealing, with only 3 errors, and 2 passed balls.
Adrian will graduate in May from Barstow Community College with his Associate's degree and has signed a National Letter of Intent at Upper Iowa University to continue his student-athlete career.
Jack McLaughlin (FR) - Jack had a great conference campaign hitting .316 with 14 runs, 25 hits, 7 doubles, 2 home runs, and 12 RBI. He carried an on base percentage of .357 and .481 slugging percentage. Jack also had the best fielding percentage in the conference amongst all other third baseman.
Overall Jack hit .264 with 22 runs, 38 hits, 10 doubles, 3 home runs, and 25 RBI.
Jorge Medrano (FR) - The left handed freshman served as the number 2 pitcher in the rotation. Through conference play, Medrano collected 36 innings pitched (T-5th most) through 10 appearances and 7 starts. Medrano carried a 3-2 record, while striking out 23. He was also named So Cal pitcher of the week for his complete game shut out versus conference opponent Antelope Valley.
Overall, Medrano threw 68.2 innings with 19 appearances, 12 starts, 4 wins, and 2 complete games. He struck out 41 batters on the year and had a 6.29 ERA.
