Vikings Baseball 2019 Fall Recap
This Fall the Vikings baseball team welcomed 24 new students to the team, well welcoming back nine sophomores that were a big part of the 2019 team's success. The new faces integrated with as strong sophomore class made for a very exciting Fall that produced an atmosphere at practices and scrimmages unlike what has been seen in Coach Walker's first five years with the Vikings.
The Vikings played six fall games against rival Victor Valley College, Antelope Valley College, and College of the Desert. Through those games the Vikings offense hit for a .410 Batting Average, scored 94 runs, 81 RBI, and collected 26 doubles, 8 triples, 6 home runs, and 20 stolen bases. Vikings pitching staff showed to be just as dominate with a 3.67 ERA, allowing only 31 earned runs and striking out 82 batters.
The Fall Season wrapped up with the annual Viking Fall World Series. This was the second year in a row that Team Walker took on Team Crank. This time Team Walker edging out Team Crank in a best of 3 game series.
The team continued their training through December with a rigorous strength and conditioning program installed by Coach Crank that has seen dramatic jumps in strength and athleticism.
"Coach Crank does an amazing job with our guys in the weight room and on the field. He builds not only strength, but power, flexibility, endurance, and athleticism. What he does to prepare the bodies and minds of our students-athletes is a big reason why we had the success we did last year, a great Fall, and what we look to be a very exciting Spring." — Coach Walker
