Vikes Sweep Double Header VS Porterville College
Vikes improve to 3-3.
On Satrurday, the Vikings battled Porteville College in a double header.
Game one saw Viking Sophomore Gredan Velasquez pitch 7 innings, while striking out 11, and only giving up four hits and 2 runs. The Vikes offense scored one in the 3rd when Austin Culor hit a scarafice fly to bring home Robert Valdivia. Porterville answered back by scoring 1 in the top of the 4th. In the bottom of the 5th, The Vikes took back the lead scoring 1 run when Ryan Hoskins scored on a passed ball. However Porterville answered right back with 1 run in the top of the 6th. The score remained tied at 2 and forced extra innings. Freshman Devon Neff came in and shut the down the Pirates in the top of the 8th. In the bottom half of the 8th, the Vikes offense rallied when Austin Cullor was hit by the pitch. Cullor then advanced to second on a wild pitch. Freshman Ace Felise was intenionally walked. Sophomore Alex Pena stepped up delivering the game winning hit to left, bringing home Cullor for the walk off win.
Game two saw an offensive explosion by the Vikings, scoring 19 runs through 7 innings of play. The offense was lead by Austin Cullor who was 4 for 4 at the plate with 3 runs scored, 2 RBI, one double and a triple. Sophomore Jack McLaughlin was 2 for 4, with 4 RBI, 2 runs scored and a double and triple as well. Ace Felise went 3 for 5, with 3 runs scored, and a home run. Domick Folks was 3 for 5 with 2 runs scored, 2 RBI, and a double. Kagen Kennedy and Alex Pena both had great days at the plate as well combining for 4 hits, 3 Runs, 3 RBI, one double and a triple. In game two the Vikings offense combined for 20 hits, 19 runs, 16 RBI, 4 soubles, 5 triples, and 1 home run.
Pitching in game two was lead by Pablo Montante who threw 3.1 Innings pitched while only giving up 1 earned runs and collecetd 3 strikouts. Montante was followed by Dominic Opipari, Dalton Dillard, Takoda Chaney, and Joey vera, who combined for 4.2 innings pitched and 3 runs.
The Vikes are back in action at home on Tuesday for a double header vs West LA. First game starts at 11:00.
