State's Top Rebounder signs with Western Oregon University
Western Oregon University lands best big man in the State!
Barstow Community College freshman stand-out Christian Drayton has just signed with Division II powerhouse Western Oregon University. The 6'8 supremely athletic big man average 16.8 points per game and a state leading 13.4 rebounds per contest this past season for the Vikings. Drayton hails from Lufkin, Texas and has three years of eligibility remaining for the Wolves who finished last season 31-4 and advanced to the NCAA Division II final four.
"Western Oregon is getting a fine young man in every aspect. Chris is a leader in the classroom, on the court and in the locker room. He will have an immediate impact on both ends of the court. He is an outstanding shot blocker, rebounder and finisher around the rim. Chris has an excellent work ethic and is a relentless competitor. Chris' leadership and friendship will be sorely missed on our team." states Barstow Head Coach Gerry Wright.
"I am very excited to work with Chris over the next three years, he has a very bright future." Wolves head coach Jim Shaw.
Christian Drayton was a unanimous 1st Team All-Foothill Conference selection in 2015-2016 and was nominated for the All-State team. Drayton was also honored as Barstow Community College's Male Athlete of the Year. "I personally believe Drayton was the best, most dominant big man in the state this past season", remembers Associate Dean of Student Services and Athletics - Thomas Armstrong
