Vikings in 2nd Place and 1 game ahead for the play-offs
The Vikings beat Victor Valley and move one game ahead of the pack for second place - Vikings can secure first ever play-appearance!!
Today was sophomore day at the newly renovated Barstow Community College softball field and it was also the day that the Vikings Softball program secured its first ever Conference winning season in program history. Today's victory over rival Victor Valley (11-0 in five inning mercy rule) moves the Vikings to 8-4 in Conference play and 1 game ahead of the pack for second place and that final automatic State Play-off spot. The Vikings have won 7 straight games and 8 of their last 10 and more importantly have wins against every team in the Foothill Conference. The Vikings have just three games left in Conference play and are destined for a show down Friday with Rio Hondo for second place. Game times are 12:00 and 2:00 PM at Rio Hondo. Neither the Vikings nor Victor Valley Community College have ever made the state play-offs in program history. The 2016 team is looking to become the first ever high desert team to achieve that accomplishment. The Vikings softball program had won a combined 7 Conference contests in the past 10 years - the 2016 team has 8 wins this season with 3 games remaining!
