Marissa Dado is Foothill Conference Player of the Year
Barstow's Marissa Dado is Foothill Conference Player of the Year!
Sophomore Marissa Dado has been honored with the highest achievement a player can earn in her sport - she is the 2016 Foothill Conference Player of the Year! Marissa Dado from Barstow California will forever be the final Foothill Conference Player of the Year as the Conference is dissolving this spring and Barstow Community College along with Victor Valley College will be joining the Western States Athletic Conference. Dado is also a 1st Team All-State selection and is the first softball player in school history to receive such honors. Dado finished number 2 in the Conference with a .444 batting average and led the Conference in runs scored with 45 as well as leading the Conference in hits (56) and RBI's (36). Marissa Dado also finished 4th in the Conference with 14 stolen bases.
Freshman catcher Alicia Klaudt from Boron, Ca received 1st Team All-Foothill Conference as she finished 2nd in the Conference with 33 RBI's - 8th in batting average (.392) and was the conference leader in home runs (6).
Freshman Shortstop Erika Lyons from Hesperia, Ca also received 1st Team All-Foothill Conference with a .402 batting average (5th in the Foothill Conference) and 17 stolen bases (3rd in the Foothill Conference).
Sophomore Alexis York from Barstow, Ca received 2nd Team All-Foothill Conference as she finished with a .395 batting average (6th) and 32 runs scored (tied for 3rd).
Sophomore Amelia McCaffrey from Edam Canada received 2nd Team All-Foothill Conference as she recorded 13 wins as a pitcher and hit .389 (10th) with 2 home runs.
Freshman Jennifer Marquez-Huston from Hesperia, Ca received 2nd Team All-Foothill Conference with a .390 batting average (9th) and 24 RBI's (top 10 in Conference)
Sophomore Catalina Smith from Las Vegas Nevada received honorable mention All-Foothill Conference with a .329 batting average and 9 doubles.
The Vikings finished number 1 in the conference in virtually all offensive categories and 6 of the top 10 batting averages among individual players were from Barstow Community College.
