Two run rally pushes Vikings to win
BARSTOW - Maggie Crossley walked up to the plate with runners on first and second and two outs in the bottom of the seventh.
The Vikings were trailing 4-3, but a long double to right center plated the two runs and won the game for Barstow, 5-4, over Victor Valley Thursday.
Crossley's double scored Envy Arroyo and Daisha Mitchell and ended the game in walk off fashion.
"The team showed some character and some heart," said coach Tim Syrek. "We were down to our last strike, but didn't give up. They dug in and found a way to win."
The win broke a 3-game losing streak and earned Barstow its first conference win.
"We didn't play our best game," Syrek added. "We had some sloppy moments on defense and on the bases, but we kept battling and that's important."
Maggie Crossley pitched a complete game in the win allowing just one earned run. She struck out a season high five batters.
Arroyo added an RBI single and Julie Shipley had an RBI in the fourth inning. Anne Marie Hernandez had a double.
Barstow will host Compton on Saturday for two games with the opener at noon.
