GLENDALE - The Barstow Vikings came out of the gate with a bang, but finished with a wimper.
The Vikings dropped a 13-1 decision to Ventura in the opening round of the Glendale Invitational.
Barstow started the action with a lead off double by Daisha Mitchell. Annemarie Hernandez laced a single to left to start the scoring.
Ventura scored four in the first and two in the second to never look back in the game.
"They hit the ball well and found the holes," said coach Tim Syrek. "We were a little tentative and it showed in the way we played."
Alora Donovan also added a hit. Melissa Galindo took the loss pitching into the third inning. Lindsey Crane finished the game.
