Pitching powers Vikings to two wins
BARSTOW - The Barstow Vikings earned a pair of wins on Tuesday in a makeup doubleheader with Cero Cosso.
Barstow won the first game in five innings, 10-2, and then won the second game, 7-2.
Melissa Galindo earned the win in the first game allowing just three hits. She also had two hits and two RBI. Diasha Mitchell scored three runs, while Alysa Avalos and Annemarie Hernandez each added two RBI.
Lindsey Crane allowed two runs in seven innings to pace the Vikings in the second game. Cheyenne Porcella scored three times in the game and stole a base. Galindo added three RBI and Hernandez had two more.
"I was proud of the pitchers and how they worked," said coach Tim Syrek. "We made some solid plays on defense behind them and just played solid softball."
The Vikings improved to 3-4-1 on the season with the two wins.
"We have a really good team dynamic and I am really pleased how some of the players have bought in to the team concept," Syrek added.
