Despite a tough series against Ohlone College at home, the Vikings remain optimistic about the 2023 campaign. "We've been in several games in the 6th inning and on," states head coach James Stellino. "We need to pitch better out of the bullpen, make the routine plays, and have better situational hitting early and late in the games."
Pitch counts have been an issue towards the latter part of the game due to some mistakes which extend innings. "We're focusing on getting those mistakes fixed, and once we do, we'll be able to turn things around," adds Stellino.
Lucas Lafebre over the last two weeks is returning to all-conference status. He will be leaned on heavily to lead the offense. Brendon Demuth has pitched great the last three outings and is getting better each time he's on the mound. Tommie Davis has also been pitching well and will focus this week in cutting down on walks.
"We need to make the routine plays and have better approaches at the plate," adds Stellino. "Conference starts tomorrow at Victor Valley College, we need to pitch well, get some timely hitting, and play solid defense. If we do that, we should come out victorious.
