Vikings Outlast Pirates at home!

On Friday February 19th, the Vikings Softball team won a nail biter against the visiting Porterville Pirates.  Amelia McCaffrey earns the complete game victory pitching while Jennifer Marquez-Huston had a career day going 4-4 at the plate with two runs scored and 4 RBI's.  The Vikings struck first with 6 runs in the first two innings.  However, the game was nearly sealed when Marquez-Huston launched a ball into Center Field orbit during the bottom of the 4th inning.  Jennifer Marquez-Huston's 3 run blast put the Vikings ahead 11-5.  However the Pirates did not give up and left the home crowd with a nail biting edge of the seat experience as they scored 6 runs in the 7th inning and left the tieing run on 3rd base.  The Vikings bent a little in the 7th but they secured the 3rd and final out winning 12-11.  The Vikings open conference play Wednesday March 2nd against Rio Hondo - game time is 3:00 PM
