Vikings shine in San Diego
SAN DIEGO - The Barstow Vikings notched a pair of wins on Saturday at San Diego Grossmont, 9-3 and 12-5.
Melissa Galindo earned the win in the first game and also added five RBI. She had a bases loaded triple and a double to pace the offense. Alora Donovan scored three runs and Alyna Garcia and Cheyenne Porcella each added two runs.
Barstow jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the second game before the defense faltered. The Vikings had four errors and Grossmont tied the game at 5-5 in the bottom of the sixth. Barstow scored seven times in the 8th inning to earn the win. Kamryn D'errico had a two run single in the final inning. Daisha Mitchell had four hits and Alyssa Avalos scored two runs.
Lindsey Crane pitched the first five innings and then Galindo earned the win in relief.
"We didn't play our best softball, but we were strong enough to win," coach Tim Syrek said.
The Vikings are now 15-17-1 on the season. Barstow will play Tuesday at Glendale.
