Bio

My coaching journey at Barstow Community College spans over ten seasons. I am proud to carry on the coaching legacy of this esteemed institution, where I learned to be a true student of the game. As a former student-athlete who participated in various sports, I bring a unique perspective to coaching. Unlike many coaches, I never had the opportunity to be coached and taught the fundamentals of each sport in detail. This has allowed me to approach coaching from a different angle, applying fundamental skills while remaining open to being coached myself. This unique perspective, coupled with my experience as a student-athlete, has proven invaluable in my role as head coach of our softball program, as it has given me a deep understanding of what our students must go through, particularly in managing their time.

As an assistant coach for the men’s basketball program in 2017, we won our first conference championship (Western State South) in over 36 years. However, the most significant achievement came in 2022, when we won the first conference championship (Inland Empire Athletic Conference) in women's softball, the first ever in the program's history. This unique experience of coaching both men's and women's teams has given me a broad perspective and a deep understanding of the game, making me the only coach at Barstow Community College to accomplish dual championships.

As the head softball coach for the women's softball program, I am deeply committed to rebuilding the culture and ensuring our student athletes' college experience is exceptional. I firmly believe that setting the standard is straightforward: Provide positive leadership while creating an atmosphere that encourages learning. Winning will take care of itself, and while it is a significant achievement, it is secondary to the goal of our student-athletes obtaining an associate degree and progressing to the next level. Their development, both on and off the field, is my unwavering priority, a commitment I uphold with every decision and action.

My coaching style is deeply rooted in the belief that success is a byproduct of hard work, discipline, and a positive mindset. I am inspired by the quote from Mark Twain: “The truth has no defense against a fool determined to believe a lie.” My integrity is my watchword, and my truth will always be heard. I firmly believe that love does not rejoice in iniquities; it rejoices in the truth as written in the Scriptures. I have unwavering faith in the young ladies I have been entrusted to lead. Their belief in my coaching style constantly motivates us as we build this program.
