Women's Basketball Evens Record with Win

After a tough season-opening loss (90-26) against Foothill College, the Barstow women's basketball team bounced back to even their record at 1-1 with a 55-50 victory over Gavilan College on Friday.

Bailey Solano led the Vikings, recording 12 points, 16 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals, and 1 block. The Widefield High School alumna dominated on both ends of the court. Natalie Thomas also had a strong showing, contributing 11 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and 5 steals.

Coming off the bench, Alexys Gomez and Layla Ford each added 12 points. Gomez also chipped in 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals, while Ford contributed 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals.

The team will play their next five games on the road, starting with a matchup against a tough Imperial Valley College team on Thursday, November 7. Tip off is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. start.
