Head Women’s Basketball Coach Devon Davis has been a part of the Barstow Athletics Department since 2012. Helming the Vikings Women's Basketball team since the 2015-16 season, he started his career with his former coach Gerry Wright as his assistant for the men’s basketball team. Devon is eager to begin his new journey as the women’s head coach and feels that the past three seasons spent alongside Coach Wright will definitely help him in his future endeavors as a head coach. As an Ohio native he moved from Columbus, Ohio to San Bernardino, CA to attend San Bernardino Valley College. Success at the junior college level, both on the court and in the classroom gave Devon a whole new outlook on life.
After winning the Foothill Conference Championship in his freshman year, SBVC advanced to the Elite 8 of the California State Community College Championship. The following year, Devon helped lead his team to a second straight Foothill Conference Championship and advanced to the sweet 16 of the California State Community College Championship. After earning All-League honors as a sophomore Devon was recruited by several universities, but elected to remain in San Bernardino and attend Cal State University San Bernardino on an athletic scholarship.
A starter in both his junior and senior years at CSUSB, Devon continued to improve and the results were undeniable. Devon led his team to two Conference Championships, a conference tournament championship and two NCAA Division II play-offs, advancing both years to the second round of the West Coast Regionals. After graduating with a BA in Human Services, Devon's pursuit of a professional basketball career landed him in Taipei, Taiwan and Lawton, Oklahoma where he played with the semi-pro team, Fort Seal Calvary, coached by former NBA All-Star Michael Ray Richardson. In 2015 Devon obtained his MA in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sports Management from Cal Baptist University Riverside. Devon resides in Rancho Cucamonga with his wife Arlyne Davis.
